12/31 Mon New Year's Eve Extravaganza

12/31 Monday night Bass Authority returns to bring in the New Year, besides tasty beats and amazing ALES we will have a Celebratory Midnight Toast with a very special bottle of beer and possibly some champagne.  Music will start around 9:30 PM with a break at Midnight and continue until 1:30 AM!

11/20 Tuesday Night at 6:30 the Beer Authority is hosting a brewer's night with CBA, meet the brewer's and sample four of their beers from the tap.  A little secret we will have two IPAs and one of them will be ran through a randle.  Hope to see you here and if not Hoppy Thanksgiving from the BA Staff.

11/11 Sunday Cribbage Tournament 2 PM Start

11/11 Sunday 2 PM Start for the 3rd Cribbage Tourney at the Beer Authority, $5 Entry and a $50 Gift Card added to pot.  Double Elimination bracketed tourney, so a chance to come back and win.  Last Cribbage Tourney we had 17 players so pot was $135, 1st Place won $85 and 2nd got the $50 Gift Card.  Rules will be explained before tournament, hope to see you here!

Washington Cider Week Sept 8th to 16th

The Beer Authority is celebrating Washington Cider Week with 10% of all WA ciders, a WA cider on tap for the 9 days and 3 events with WA Cider companies:  9/11 Tues with Alpenfire 6:30 - 8:30 PM, 9/13 Thurs with Finn River from 6:30 - 8:30 PM and 9/15 with Tieton from 6-8 PM.  Plus we have special ciders from each of these companies.  Hope to see you here for some great WA Cider!  Cheers Burc

8/8 Brewer's Night with Fish Brewing

Fish Brewing will be here Wednesday 8/8 from 6:30 to 8:30 come down and meet Brad Shell Brewery manager for Fish Brewing in Olympia.  Fish Brewing will be featuring a keg of Ten Squared barrel aged in Dry Fly Whiskey barrels.  Ten Squared is a Big Hoppy Barleywine and this beer was brewed in Jan of 2010, so should be amazing!  Hope to see you here for the Fish Brewer's Night and Brad is a character!

8/5 Pre Season Football begins and Retro Board Game Night

Are you ready for some Football!!!  Join us for the First Preseaon NFL game this year at 5:00 PM to watch the Saints vs. Cardinals and we will also have RetroBoard Game night with sign up at 6 PM.  RetroBoard Game night is a challenge of your skills at classic board games and games of skill, Yahtzee, Connect 4, Checkers, BattleShip, Candyland, and Uno and the champion wins a mug or a custom snifter.

6/24 Cribbage Tourney Starts at 2 PM

Sunday afternoon at 2 PM the Beer Authority will be hosting a Cribbage Tournament, $5 entry and $50 gift Card will be added to the prizes.  The Cribbage tourney will be Double Elimination format and cribbage boards will be provided.  Depending on how many people show up will decide the prize money; plus there will be a bounty for any cribbage player that beats me!  In addition to the prize money and bragging rights there will be a mug awarded to the winner and if he or she already has a mug there will be some bling on their mug.

6/23 Liquid Beats 4 - 6 PM Hoppy Hour

This Saturday the Beer Authority will have a DJ spinning Electronic Music during Hoppy Hour from 4 - 6 PM.  Come down and enjoy easy listening music and buy two 22's and your first beer is only $2for this Hoppy Hour.  Hope to see you here for a fun afternoon, Cheers Burc

Two more Events for Seattle Beer Week

Only two more events at the Beer Authority for Seattle Beer Week; this Friday night at 10 PM the Beer Authority turns into the Bass Authority for Beats and Beers.  Two DJ's from NEB Productions will be providing beats and the Bass Authority will be providing amazing beers and of course cider.

5/19 Saturday at 2 PM - 4 PM come meet Fal Allen of Anderson Valley (formerly of Red Hook and Pike, will have Anderson Valley four special beers to sample and Pagliacci pizza for you to enjoy!  Anderson Valley is bringing a very special keg for this event called Gatlin Damnosis a barleywine barrel aged and then aged with cherries to have a refreshing sourness ( I can't wait to taste this one!)  Hope to see for our last event during Seattle Beer Week, Cheers Burc

Seattle Beer Week Kicks off at the Beer Authority

The Beer Authority Kicks off Seattle Beer Week with only pouring Washington beers for the first weekend of the 4th Annual SBW; featuring a tapping of a Diamond Knot Cask of Double Dry Hopped IPA at 3 PM and at 4 PM tapping a keg of Fremont B BOMB, plus we have on tap the Seattle Beer Week Beer from Elysian Espresso Milk Stout and 6 other amazing beers from Washington.

Okay, I've been a slacker this past month in keeping up to date on blog posts so here's a bunch of cool stuff coming up at the store..

First up, please join us this Wednesday for a brewers night with Lagunitas featuring Waldos Special Ale and Hop Wrapped Twinkies...hmmmmm...Twinkies.

This Friday we will have DJ "DP" Bass spinnig records in the store late night, starting at 11:00 PM.  Come check it out if you're out and about in the LC!

We will be unofficially kicking off Seattle Beer Week with the Gold golf tournament at Jackson Park on May 9th.  The 9-for9-for-9 event is 9 holes on the executive course with only a 9 iron on May 9th...9-for-9-for-9...should be a blast!  Sign up at the store!

May 10th is the official kick off of Seattle Beer Week and in addition to beer specials we will have the first annual Beer Bus tour of Puget Sound breweries, with stops at 7 Seas, Silver City, and Sound Brewery.  You don't want to miss it!!

Finally, the next Retro Board Game is on 5/13.  Sign up begins at 6:30.

Two Beers Tasting Tomorrow!

But why stop at two? 

Tomorrow we have Two Beers Brewing stopping by for a Brewer's Night featuring their India Session Ale, Panorama Wheat Ale, and a cask conditioned Evolution IPA!  6-8 PM...come on down!!

In other news we're getting ready for the big golf tournament at Jackson Park on May 9th.  Here's the deal, it's a 9 hole tournament, played on the 9th, and restricted to only your 9 iron.  If you putt for dough and don't drive for show and your short game is decent this is one tournament you won't want to miss!  Details coming soon...

On tap, the Mongo Double IPA, Sound Brewing Monk's Belgian Style Ale, and for something lighter, the Kostritzer Marzen, and of course many more.

Happy St. Paddy's Day!

You won't find any green, weak-ass piss water at our establishment but we will have a couple of great beers in the Irish tradition.  Tomorrow we'll have Diamond Knott's Slane Irish Red and the Anderson Valley Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout.  Each beer will be $4 bucks a pint and you can take home a growler for $10 bucks...what a deal!

More importantly we will have all of the NCAA games on so come on in and hoist a pint while watching some great basketball.

A great tasting tonight with Silver City Brewing!!

If you like Scotch ale you won't want to miss our brewer's night with Silver City Brewing tonight!  Their Fat Woody is one of my favorites and they will also be featuring their new Spring Deluxe and Whoopass Double IPA! 

Also, March Madness is upon us and The Beer Authority is a great place to catch the games.  We're open at noon each day so all of the day games will be on.  Come down and watch your bracket get destroyed...it's much more fun while drinking a beer rather than drowning your sorrows at home!

Tasting Tonight!

It's rare that I'm able to attend these events as I am typically on dad duty mid-week but I have a guest flying into town tonight from Sun Valley Idaho and they just don't get the variety of great beers that we have available in Seattle (although he makes up for it by skiing a world class mountain all the time...bastard).

Anyhoo, Anderson Valley will be in the store tonight and we have a surprise mix of one-off kegs to sample, plus one of their beers in a can to be revealed later... 

More good stuff on tap right now with a white lambic and a killer barelywine from 21st Amendment Brewing.

Back for more winter!

After a little hiatus spent in the warm bask of the Hawaiian sun, follwed by a little trek to Austin TX I'm back to the gloom and grey of Seattle!  It's the perfect weather for drinking beer and quite frankly I had my fill of Mai Thai's. 


Anyhoo, we have some fantastic new beers in the store, including some tasty ones from Lost Abbey, the Firestone Walker Sucaba (4 bottle limit per person), and some interesting beers from Dogfish Head.  Up next on tap we have some barley wines to warm you up from the rainy weather.

An update on the Retro Board Game nights.  The next night is March 10th.  Last time Burc and Renna played a tightly contested battle with a tie in Go Fish, but Burc was the victor in the end with a decisive game of Candyland.

So...come on down and drink some beer!!

Superbowl at the Beer Authority!!

Damn it we have a good day lined up on Sunday!!  If you haven't heard yet, we're having a good old fashion potluck on Sunday for the Superbowl festivities.  I have no idea what items might make it in but if they are made with the same passion our patrons have to drinking great beer I have no doubt it will be worth stopping by for!  Also, as I have mentioned before my very awesome award winning (really!) chili will be piping hot in a crock pot.

We will be offering draft beer specials all day so come on down!!

Next up we have a brewers night on February 8th with 7 Seas and they never dissapoint with their beers. 

Lots of great beers on tap right now as well and the store has been hopping lately so come enjoy the good beer good times!

Snowmaggedon?

Hardly!  But a little cold and snow shouldn't keep you all from enjoying a nice frothy beer and we've got some good ones on right now (ok, when DON'T we have good ones on?)  I'm sipping a Port Royal Foreign Extra Stout from 7 Seas as I type this and it's very tasty!  Also new on tap is the Red Barn Ale from Lost Abbey, and Brrrbon Winter Ale from Windmer.

After watching the inevitable end of the Tim Tebow farce, made to look like the high school running back he is suddenly thrust into the role of leading his team, I'm ready for two really good football games this upcoming weeknd for the AFC and NFC title games.  As always we will have them on so come on down!

Whoever makes it into the Superbowl, you can bet the Beer Authority will be a great place to watch.  Not only will we have great beer to help you watch the lame Superbowl commercials, but my world famous chili will be making a long anticipated return for the game.  Get some early cause it surely won't last!

In other news, congrats to Brian "BMW" Wannberg who won the Retro Boardgame Night last night!  Brian now moves on to the Tournament of Champions which so far just includes Breezy.  Next Retro Boardgame Night will be February 19th during President's Day Weekend.  Sign up is at 5:00 PM with the competition starting at 5:30 PM.  It's single elimnation with random drawing for the game selection.  Who's going to step up and challenge them?

Ringing in the New Year!

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the store on New Year's Eve!  It's been a great holiday season at The Beer Authority and the fun continues with playoff football this upcoming weekend and the BCS title game next Monday.  What better way to watch football than sipping one of our tasty beers? 

Also comming up:  Snoqualmie Brewing will be in the store tonight from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM celebrating their 14th anniversary with the Louis Quartorze Imperial Stout.

On January 10th we have Unita Brewery in for a tasting followed by Flyer's Brewery on the 11th.
